Angela List, CEO of Adamus Resources Limited, has been elected First Vice President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines. Her election at the Chamber's recent Annual General Meeting in Accra places her in the organisation’s second-highest leadership position.

This appointment recognises Ms. List’s extensive experience and leadership across the West African mining sector. She oversees several mining companies, including Adamus Resources Limited and Nguvu Mining Limited. As First Vice President, she will support efforts to shape policy, promote technical standards, and advocate for sustainable mining practices in Ghana.

The mining sector is a core pillar of Ghana's economy, contributing significantly to its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and export earnings. Gold alone accounts for a substantial portion of Ghana's total exports. This appointment occurs as Ghana's gold production faces increasing competition from other West African nations. The Chamber of Mines plays a vital role in balancing economic growth with environmental sustainability and local community welfare.

Ms. List stated she will draw on her 25 years of experience to support the Chamber's objectives. She also emphasised the need for more women in the mining industry. "After all, what men can do, women can do better," she noted, stressing the importance of practically applying this sentiment in mining.

Her elevation from Second Vice President brings added responsibility to maximise benefits from Ghana's mineral resources. This position is crucial for dialogue between the government and mining companies on issues like concessions, taxes, and local content requirements. The mining industry currently grapples with concerns over tax regimes and job creation, as highlighted by prior industry discussions.

Before leading Nguvu Mining Limited, Ms. List was Executive Director of BCM Ghana Limited and BCM International Limited. Both are mining services companies that grew significantly under her guidance. She holds an MSc and an MBA from the University of Manchester, alongside a BSc in Administration from the University of Ghana.

Ms. List is also the recipient of the 2025 Global Power Female Award. This award recognises accomplished businesswomen globally. She has also received national honours, including the Female CEO of the Year Award in 2023 and the Asantehene Award. These accolades acknowledge her substantial contributions to Ghana's mining industry.

Her leadership will be vital as the Chamber navigates regulatory changes and strives for resource maximisation. Observers will watch how her advocacy for women in mining impacts diversity initiatives within the sector. Her role will also influence how Ghana addresses challenges like illegal mining (galamsey) and ensures sustainable resource management. The Chamber's actions under her leadership will significantly affect Ghana’s economic outlook and mining policy direction.
