Ghanaian technology company mNotify has selected 14 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for a three-month artificial intelligence (AI) transformation programme. These businesses will receive technical support to integrate AI and other digital tools into their daily operations. The initiative aims to enhance efficiency and foster growth across various sectors.

The selected companies emerged from over 100 applicants for mNotify’s Digital Transformation Drive. This programme focuses on helping SMEs use technology to solve practical business challenges. It also seeks to improve their overall growth trajectory. The participating firms operate in diverse areas, including hospitality, manufacturing, e-commerce, software development, and cybersecurity.

This initiative aligns with Ghana’s broader push for digital transformation and economic diversification. Many Ghanaian businesses, particularly SMEs, face challenges in adopting modern technologies. The programme addresses a critical need for structured digital integration. It also supports the national agenda to build a more technologically advanced economy. Data from the Ghana Statistical Service indicates that digital literacy remains a key area for improvement among local businesses.

Ronald Tagoe, Chief Executive Officer of mNotify, emphasized a problem-first approach for the programme. He stated, “Our goal is to change the narrative around digital transformation. We start with the problem, not the technology.” This strategy ensures businesses first understand their challenges and have reliable data before implementing AI solutions. Tagoe highlighted that meaningful value from AI depends on quality data and clear problem definition.

The implications for these SMEs are significant, promising improved operational efficiency and potential revenue growth. The programme will help businesses digitize records and redesign workflows. It will also introduce AI-powered customer engagement and cloud-based solutions through the Omni mNotify platform. Success will be measured by indicators like revenue growth, customer acquisition, and employment creation. This could set a precedent for future digital transformation efforts in Ghana.

mNotify’s programme addresses a fundamental issue for many Ghanaian SMEs: weak record-keeping. Tagoe noted that poor data management hinders businesses from understanding customer behaviour. It also complicates sales monitoring, inventory management, and evidence-based decision-making. The initiative will help companies establish proper data collection systems before introducing AI tools. This foundational step ensures that AI can generate accurate and useful insights.

The Digital Transformation Drive is part of mNotify’s wider strategy to expand AI use among Ghanaian businesses. This initial group of 14 SMEs represents the first cohort. mNotify plans future editions to include more businesses, aiming to support hundreds of enterprises. This expansion reflects a commitment to fostering a robust digital ecosystem in Ghana.

To further this goal, mNotify has launched Impact AI Labs. This collaborative platform connects entrepreneurs, developers, and business leaders. It facilitates the exchange of ideas and exploration of AI tools. The platform also aims to develop solutions for shared industry challenges. This fosters a community-driven approach to technological advancement.

Additionally, mNotify introduced Care Arena, a healthcare-focused innovation programme. Care Arena will apply AI and voice technology to healthcare delivery. Its initial focus is on raising awareness and promoting behavioural change regarding preeclampsia. This demonstrates mNotify’s commitment to leveraging AI for social impact beyond traditional business applications.

These developments coincide with the launch of mNotify’s redesigned website. The new site consolidates its AI and digital services. These services include chatbots, voice solutions, intelligent call centre technology, and USSD services. It also offers voting and ticketing platforms, software development, and AI readiness assessments. This comprehensive offering showcases mNotify’s evolution from a bulk SMS provider to a broad technology solutions company. The company’s strategic shift positions it as a key player in Ghana’s digital future.
