Northshore Apparel GH LTD, a garment manufacturing company based in Savelugu, has achieved certification from Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP). This certification confirms the company meets internationally accepted standards for ethical manufacturing and responsible business conduct. The certificate, number 140034, is valid from June 12, 2026, to June 12, 2027.
This achievement follows a thorough independent audit of Northshore Apparel’s operations. The audit covered all stages of production, including fabric receiving, cutting, sewing, finishing, pressing, packing, quality control, and dispatch. The certification places the company among ethical and export-ready apparel manufacturers globally.
This development significantly boosts Ghana’s industrial transformation objectives, particularly in the manufacturing sector. The Ministry of Trade and Industry’s 'One District, One Factory' (1D1F) initiative aims to promote local production and export. This certification aligns perfectly with Ghana’s goal to become a sub-regional manufacturing hub. It also supports efforts to diversify Ghana’s export base beyond traditional commodities.
Mr. Mohammed Nurideen, Chief Executive Officer of Northshore Apparel GH LTD, stated the certification is an independent validation of their daily commitment. He said it signals to the world that garments made in Savelugu are produced responsibly and ethically. Mr. Nurideen highlighted the company's ability to compete globally.
The WRAP standard is the world’s largest independent certification program for ethical production in the apparel sector. It evaluates facilities against 12 key principles. These include lawful and humane labor practices, prohibition of child and forced labor, and fair compensation. Workplace safety, responsible working hours, and environmental compliance are also critical factors. Adherence to customs regulations and ethical business practices complete the comprehensive assessment.
This certification will notably strengthen the company’s credibility with international buyers and sourcing firms. It also makes Northshore Apparel attractive to development partners seeking responsible manufacturing operations. This achievement demonstrates that world-class apparel manufacturing is possible in northern Ghana. It confirms adherence to international standards of quality, worker welfare, and environmental stewardship simultaneously.
The company’s operations are expected to create up to 10,000 jobs. This will make Northshore Apparel one of the largest industrial employers in northern Ghana. The firm plans to offer opportunities for youth, women, and persons with disabilities, including members of the deaf community. This expansion contributes to increased export earnings and local economic growth. It also supports round-the-clock productivity, benefiting the wider Ghanaian economy.
