Agromonti Company Ltd has reinforced its dedication to sustainable farming and farmer well-being. This commitment was highlighted through a significant Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) event. The company was the main sponsor of the recent Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibition and Awards. This took place in Techiman, Bono East Region.

The event aimed to promote safer agrochemical use across Ghana. Agromonti partnered with the Agrihouse Foundation for this initiative. They focused on educating farmers and other stakeholders. The goal was to share best practices in crop protection. Mr. Dominic Donkoh, Managing Partner and Technical Director of Agromonti, delivered a keynote address. He spoke on the Safe Use of Agrochemicals. He stressed the vital need for safety in handling and applying these chemicals. Farmers, agrochemical dealers, and industry players must make this a priority.

Two main areas of concern were identified by Mr. Donkoh. First is the consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This includes gloves, masks, and protective clothing. Second is strict adherence to approved chemical dosages. "Agrochemicals are tools, not shortcuts," Mr. Donkoh explained. "When misused, they become a liability." He added that ignoring label instructions on chemical bottles is dangerous. It risks lives and harms the environment. It also threatens access to foreign markets.

Mr. Donkoh further pointed out a strong link. Many cases of chemical poisoning, pollution, and rejected export crops stem from misuse. This misuse involves using too much product or spraying without protection. Agromonti's key CSR messages focused on several points. Farmer Safety First urges wearing essential PPE like gloves and masks. Responsible Application means following scientifically tested dosages. Farmer Education encourages distributors to train farmers during sales. Protecting Ghana’s Export Reputation is vital due to strict residue regulations abroad. Environmental Stewardship involves proper handling and disposal of containers.

During the awareness campaign, Agromonti organised a live demonstration. This showed correct PPE use and sprayer calibration. Smallholder farmers and agro-dealers actively participated. The exhibition itself gathered key industry figures. This included manufacturers, importers, regulators, and farmers. The aim was to foster innovation and knowledge sharing in crop protection. Agromonti is a trusted importer and distributor of EPA-registered products. They also displayed educational materials on safe use. These materials offered practical farming solutions.

Agromonti’s message was clear for the future. "Safe use is not an option," Mr. Donkoh concluded. "It is the only way to farm profitably, sustainably, and responsibly." This farming approach is crucial for 2026 and beyond. The exhibition provided a platform for critical discussions in Ghana's agribusiness sector. Safe practices are essential for sustaining agricultural output.
