The Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company (ECCBC) Ghana has officially started the first Copa Coca-Cola 2026 tournament. Group stage matches began on Saturday, May 2. The S2 Sport Club in Accra hosted these initial games. The tournament brings together eight international and community schools. It celebrates youth football and aims to build leadership skills. Community spirit is also a key focus of the event.

This initiative is designed to encourage young people through sports. ECCBC Ghana sees football as a way to help them grow. Managing Director Felix Gomis stated the business motive. "This tournament is about our youth," he said. "We want to help them grow in a spirit of healthiness, confidence, and learning." The goal is to groom them into the future leaders of tomorrow. The company aims to start small and eventually scale up. Ultimately, ECCBC Ghana wants Copa Coca-Cola to become a national celebration.

The launch included a special trophy tour. The Copa Coca-Cola trophy visited all participating schools before the kickoff. This visit was designed to create excitement. It made the competition feel personal for the students. Many young players saw the trophy up close for the first time. This was a deliberate move to connect them to the competition's prize.

Eight schools are competing in this inaugural tournament. These include Ghana International School and Alpha Beta School. Faith Montessori, Lycée Français International Jacques Prévert d'Accra, and Ghana Christian International High School are also participating. Rounding out the list are International Community School, East Airport International School, and American International School, Ghana.

The tournament is an investment in Ghana's youth. It also celebrates the communities where ECCBC Ghana operates. The semi-finals and finals are scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026. Ghana International School, Lycée Français International Jacques Prévert d'Accra, International Community School, and East Airport International School will compete for victory. ECCBC Ghana aims to grow Copa Coca-Cola into a regional and national event. This year's edition is seen as the foundation for something much larger.
