Global Media Alliance (GMA), in partnership with Japan Motors, has launched the 16th edition of the Corporate Run and Walk. This annual 5-kilometre event is scheduled for September 21, 2026. The initiative promotes workplace wellness while supporting persons living with visual impairment across Ghana.
The run will take place simultaneously across four key regions. These regions include Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western, and Northern. The event commemorates Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day, a significant national observance.
Ernest Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of Global Media Alliance, highlighted the event's evolution. He stated that the initiative has grown beyond a simple corporate fitness event over 16 years. Mr. Boateng emphasized its role in bringing Corporate Ghana together to promote health and build stronger connections. He also noted its success in supporting a meaningful cause.
The event is built around core values of health, unity, and inclusion. Mr. Boateng confirmed that 25% of the proceeds will be donated to the Ghana Blind Union. This donation will specifically support persons living with visual impairment. The funds will help provide essential resources like tandem bicycles and other mobility support.
Salah Kwaku Kalmoni, Executive Director of Lakeside Estate and Silver Star Tower, described the event as a “race of impact.” He noted that the initiative consistently prioritizes social impact over competition. Mr. Kalmoni stressed that every contribution helps restore dignity, independence, and opportunity for the visually impaired. He reiterated the saying, “mobility is freedom.”
Mr. Kalmoni also introduced the concept of “Personal Best” (PB) for participants. He explained that individuals are challenged to improve their own performance rather than competing against others. This approach fosters personal growth and a sense of achievement. He added that the Corporate Run is about making an impact and contributing meaningfully to society.
Mabel Offei, Marketing Manager of Japan Motors, reaffirmed her company's commitment. She described the 16-year partnership as a reflection of Japan Motors' dedication to giving back to society. Ms. Offei encouraged organizations and individuals to join the event. She highlighted that every registration and sponsorship contributes to a worthy cause. It also promotes healthier workplaces.
Corporate institutions are encouraged to register teams as part of their corporate social responsibility. Individuals can also participate for a registration fee of GHS 100. Registration tickets are available at Silver Star Towers offices in Accra, Takoradi, Kumasi, and Tamale. Forms can also be obtained from the Global Media Alliance office in Dzorwulu, Happy FM, and Silverbird Cinemas. Online registration is also an option for participants.
