Mining Entrepreneur Angela List Honoured by Asantehene

    Angela List, the chief executive and founder of Nguvu Mining Limited, received a high honour from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The award ceremony marked 27 years of the Asantehene’s reign. Ms. List was recognised for her significant contributions to Ghana’s national security and socio-economic progress.

    The special recognition celebrated Ms. List’s resilience, vision, and leadership. She received a commemorative gold coin award. Other prominent figures also received awards, including former presidents and the Inspector-General of Police, for their contributions. The event was themed 'Advancing Peace and Sustainable Economic Development Through Royal Vision.' It took place at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

    Ms. List’s company, Nguvu Mining Limited, operates in Ghana, Niger, Mali, and Liberia. These include well-known entities like Adamus Resources Limited and Northern Ashanti Mining Company Limited. Ms. List spoke about the challenges women face in the mining industry. She stated that no one easily gives an inch to women in this field. She aims to inspire more women to become successful mining entrepreneurs in Africa.

    Her commitment is to pave the way for future generations of women. She expressed strong optimism for women to excel as CEOs and engineers in mining soon. Ms. List also shared her companies’ plans for job creation and community development. Future projects will focus on enhancing the socio-economic status of mining communities.

    These initiatives include offering more scholarships. Building schools and clinics is also a priority. Financial assistance for women traders is planned. Ms. List is dedicated to making a real difference in people’s lives through mining operations. She believes in changing the prevailing narrative within the industry.

    This honour follows another significant achievement last year. Ms. List won the 2025 Global Power Female Award. This award celebrates accomplished businesswomen worldwide. She is the first Ghanaian woman to receive this prestigious recognition. The award acknowledges her leadership, community empowerment, and lasting impact.

    The Global Power Female Award ceremony was held in New York. It coincided with the UN General Assembly. Heads of state and global business leaders attended this event. Ms. List was also inducted into the Global Power Women’s Network. This network is a key platform for influence, capital, and partnerships for women globally. Ms. List has worked in the mining sector for 25 years.
