Rumzia Sule, an International Relations student at Cumbria University, has been officially crowned Miss Ghana 2026. She emerged victorious over 12 other contestants to claim the coveted national title. The 69th edition of the pageant, held under the theme “Empowering Women, Enduring Legacy,” concluded with a focus on personal and community development.
The grand finale saw University of Ghana graduate Fatimatu Zara Ishacu finish as the first runner-up. Whitney Opoku Nketia was adjudged the second runner-up. Anita Dankwa and Nedlyn Appiah secured the 3rd and 4th runner-up positions respectively. This year’s pageant adopted a strategic, scaled-down format, shifting away from traditional pomp towards a more personal and community skills development theme.
This change aligns with a broader trend in Ghana where public events increasingly seek to demonstrate social responsibility. Organizations are moving beyond mere entertainment to incorporate elements of national development. The Miss Ghana Foundation’s emphasis on community projects and skill-building reflects this evolving landscape. Exclusive Events Ghana and the Miss Ghana Foundation, the organisers, stated this format change was a deliberate choice. They are preparing for the brand's upcoming 70th anniversary nationally and the 75th internationally. “We did not want to be only entertainment focused but more of the personal and corporate development skills,” the organisers explained. They added that the platform is about “beauty with a purpose, tangible impact, and an enduring legacy.”

Despite the cozy setting of the coronation at the Oak Plaza Hotel in Accra, finalists underwent a rigorous pageant journey. This followed nationwide auditions on June 27, 2026. The young women participated in intensive, weeks-long mentorship, leadership, and entrepreneurship programs. These programs tested their resilience, empathy, discipline, and professionalism.
The comprehensive training curriculum included Financial Literacy & Sustainability, facilitated by Fidelity Bank. Ivana Annan, CEO of Ivana Couture, coached Identity, Poise, and Leadership. Personal Branding & Media Excellence was led by Dr. Ike Tandoh at the Honeysuckle Restaurant in Labone. Dr. Terry Bright Kweku Ofosu taught Movement & Flexibility. Fitness & Mental Well-being was provided by Philippa Pepera, Director at Pippa’s Health Centre. Jennifer Agyemang, Founder of Amazing U, covered Etiquette and Personal Development.
Contestants also toured the Despite Automobile Museum in East Legon. This visit aimed to inspire them with the entrepreneurial journey of Dr. Osei Kwame Despite. These lessons were translated into nationwide social intervention projects. Through the Miss Ghana Foundation’s Beauty with a Purpose initiative, contestants led a youth mentorship program. This program impacted over 300 pupils at Martey Tsuru Presbyterian JHS in Accra. Sessions covered patriotism, civic responsibility, and resilience.
Furthermore, contestants supported President John Dramani Mahama’s call to restore cleanliness across Ghana. They participated in the National Clean-Up Exercise, desilting choked gutters in parts of Accra. The Foundation emphasized that these outreach programs were vital evaluation tools. They helped identify a queen who genuinely embodies compassion and a willingness to serve society. The outcome was determined by a combination of the preliminary journey, accounting for 80% of the total score, and a 20% public vote. Rumzia’s exceptional public speaking and commanding vision in her final presentation ultimately secured her the crown. She will now prepare to represent Ghana at the Miss World pageant in Vietnam.
