Republic Bank has officially opened two new water systems at two senior high schools in Ghana’s Volta Region. The projects supply clean water using solar power. The bank invested GHS 1.2 million in this effort. These schools are Adidome Senior High School and Taviefe Senior High School. This initiative aims to solve long-standing water problems for students and teachers.

The new systems are mechanized and run on electric and solar power. They were brought in through Republic Bank's 'Power to Make a Difference' program. This is part of their company's social responsibility work. The unveiling ceremonies saw attendance from officials like the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu. Republic Bank's Managing Director, Dr. Benjamin Dzoboku, was also present. School leaders and traditional elders joined the events.

For years, Adidome Senior High School and Taviefe Senior High School struggled with getting enough water. Headmaster Dr. Vincent Dzidula Kwasi Atiku of Adidome SHS called the project 'timely and life-saving.' He explained that it would greatly improve student welfare. Volta Regional Minister James Gunu praised Republic Bank. He noted the project supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6. This goal focuses on clean water and sanitation for everyone. The region needs over 900 boreholes to meet its water demands. Togbe Kwasinyi Kakaklolo Agyeman V, Chief of Adidome, highlighted that students no longer need to walk far for water. This brings dignity and relief.

Republic Bank's Managing Director, Dr. Benjamin Dzoboku, explained the bank's commitment. He stated that water and sanitation are key UN Sustainable Development Goals. Clean water is vital for health, education, and development. He mentioned that drilling at Adidome was difficult but successful due to perseverance. Dr. Dzoboku believes that with water available, students can focus more on their studies. At Taviefe Senior High School, former Headmaster Sadrack Abiwu shared similar sentiments. He said the project brought hope and convenience.

The Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Stephen Adom, urged students to care for the facility. He called it a worthy investment in the future. Dr. Dzoboku reiterated the bank's focus on education and community development. He believes education thrives when basic needs like water are met. Honourable James Gunu reinforced that government cannot solve all challenges alone. He emphasized the need for institutions like Republic Bank. The Chief of Taviefe, Togbe Tenku Kodzo Zigah III, advised students on proper maintenance. He stressed that good upkeep ensures future generations benefit.

This investment by Republic Bank reflects its dedication to community upliftment. The 'Power to Make a Difference' initiative shows that banking contributes beyond financial gains. It touches on dignity, health, and better educational opportunities. The bank's actions provide a foundation for students to concentrate on their learning.

Republic Bank's commitment to social responsibility continues with projects like these. The bank aims to create a positive impact on communities. This water project directly aids over 2,000 students. It reduces daily burdens and improves hygiene standards.
