The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has unequivocally denied media reports and social media claims that it is actively selling its hotel investments. SSNIT stated these claims are false and misleading, reaffirming its commitment to its hospitality assets.

SSNIT clarified that recent advertisements, published in the Ghanaian Times and Daily Graphic on March 24, 2026, were misinterpreted by the public. These adverts were not invitations for hotel sales or offers to buyers. Instead, they sought qualified consulting firms to provide advisory services for Golden Beach Hotels Limited, which manages La Palm Royal Beach Resort, Elmina Beach Resort, and Busua Beach Resort.

This clarification unfolds within Ghana's ongoing national conversation about public asset management and the sustainability of pension funds. Previous public discussions and political debates have scrutinised state-owned enterprise performance and the effective deployment of national resources. Concerns often surface regarding financial prudence and returns on investment for critical public institutions like SSNIT.

The Trust explicitly stated that “SSNIT is not selling any of its hotel investments.” Management further explained that consultants are expected to assess hotel operations and performance. They will recommend turnaround strategies and develop a comprehensive five-year business plan. This initiative aims to improve efficiency and boost profitability across the Golden Beach Hotels portfolio.

Moving forward, the public will likely monitor the progress of these consulting engagements and the resulting impact on the hotels' financial performance. Decision-makers and markets will watch for evidence of improved efficiency and profitability from the SSNIT hotel investments. This will ensure contributors' funds are prudently managed for long-term stability and value creation.

SSNIT emphasised that this exercise is strictly a business improvement initiative. It is not part of any divestment process or a move to offload assets. Labadi Beach Hotel, a flagship property within SSNIT’s portfolio, continues to perform strongly. SSNIT actively supports its expansion and growth to enhance its long-term value. All investment decisions are guided by sound financial principles. They focus on ensuring the sustainability of Ghana's pension scheme.
