Big Aidoo donates 100 desks to school

Humjibre D/A Primary and JHS benefits from private intervention amidst furniture shortages.

Michael Aidoo, known as Chairman Big Aidoo, has donated 100 mono desks and chairs to the Humjibre D/A Primary and Junior High School. The donation aims to solve a critical lack of furniture in the classrooms. This shortage has made effective teaching and learning difficult for students in the Sefwi Bekwai Traditional Area. The items were presented on June 1, 2026, to traditional leaders and school officials. This event points to a larger problem in Ghana’s education system. Many schools struggle with insufficient resources. The government has previously announced plans to build new schools and provide more desks. For instance, in 2024, the government targeted 400 new schools and 1 million desks. Despite these efforts, local communities and private donors often step in to fill the gaps. Traditional authorities and school administrators expressed gratitude for the donation. They pledged to care for the desks. Chairman Big Aidoo stated his commitment to education. He plans similar projects across the Sefwi Bekwai Traditional Area. He believes every child deserves a good learning environment. The intervention by Chairman Big Aidoo provides immediate relief to Humjibre School. It also draws attention to the persistent need for investment in educational infrastructure. Communities will continue to rely on such support. This highlights the gap between national targets and local realities. Decision-makers must consider how to accelerate the provision of basic school facilities. The cost of such furniture can be significant for local assemblies. This kind of social responsibility is seen as vital. Private sector involvement can complement public spending on education. Educational outcomes are directly linked to study environments.
