Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, the Dormaahene, has strongly praised President John Dramani Mahama’s ‘Big Push’ infrastructure agenda. He specifically highlighted its positive impact on road development in the Bono Region. The traditional leader stated the initiative has brought substantial benefits. It is expected to further boost socio-economic growth.
The ‘Big Push’ is a government program. It dedicates funds to major road projects nationwide. The Dormaahene observed the ongoing road works in the Bono Region firsthand. He noted their steady progress. Contractors appear committed to meeting project deadlines. Key projects include the Sunyani Outer Ring Road. The Sunyani-Awenchi-Acherensua road is also part of the plan. The Sunyani-Wenchi-Berekum road benefits from this initiative. The Jinijini-Sampa road construction is also underway.
This praise comes at a time when infrastructure development is a key focus for Ghana’s economy. The ‘Big Push’ program represents a significant government outlay. Efficient transport networks are vital for trade and investment. Prior government efforts also focused on connectivity. For example, the Accra-Kumasi Expressway is a major undertaking. Its completion aims to reduce travel times. This will help businesses and commuters alike. Improved roads are essential for national economic competitiveness.
“I would personally walk from Dormaa Ahenkro to Accra to thank the President if the Accra-Kumasi Expressway is completed within the scheduled timeframe,” the Dormaahene declared. He mentioned seeing initial work by the military. He expressed hope for the main construction to proceed swiftly. The Accra-Kumasi stretch spans 198.7 kilometres. It is planned as Ghana's first six-lane access-controlled tolled expressway. Bono Regional Minister Joseph Addae Akwaboah confirmed contractors' assurance of early completion. He stated the Regional Coordinating Council monitors these projects for quality.
The successful completion of these road projects could attract more investment. It may also reduce supply chain costs for businesses. Consumers might see lower prices for goods. Increased economic activity in the Bono Region is anticipated. The Dormaahene’s commendation lends weight to the government's claims of progress. Attention will remain on project timelines and delivery quality. The Minister also mentioned over 200 GETFund projects in education. This shows a broader development focus.
