The Han-Tumu Road has finally seen significant progress after 30 years of being a fixture in government budgets without repairs. Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza initiated the rehabilitation of the Han-Nandow-Waala section on Tuesday. Commuters can now travel this route without the previous distress.

For six years, the Han-Nandow-Waala, along with the Jeffisi-to-Tumu stretch, had become a symbol of government neglect. This road had developed deep craters, causing frequent tyre damage and delaying the transport of agricultural goods. It was a constant source of public frustration during community gatherings.

This road project is part of a larger national infrastructure drive. The government has pledged increased investment in roads under its 'Big Push' agenda. This initiative aims to boost economic activity by improving connectivity. Previous governments also included this road in their budget plans, but the work never materialized.

Sissala East Municipal Chief Executive Yakubu Adamu Cadet expressed his relief at the commencement of the work. Mohammed Issa Battaglia, Member of Parliament for Sissala East, also praised the quality of work done by Mawums Ghana Limited. He specifically highlighted their section of the road.

The minister's visit was not merely an inspection. He met with local chiefs and youth in Tumu, including Jentina Tommy Luriwie Kanton. The community members gathered to express their gratitude and share further concerns. One key topic was the plan for a dual-carriageway project.

Minister Agbodza addressed these concerns by explaining the road's strategic importance. He pointed out its proximity to Burkina Faso. The road plays a vital role in cross-border trade and regional security. The minister emphasized that the 'Big Push' agenda demands timely and quality delivery from contractors.

The rehabilitation efforts are expected to ease transportation challenges. This will likely improve the movement of goods and enhance economic opportunities for the Sissala enclave. The renewed focus on this road signifies a shift towards addressing long-standing infrastructure deficits. The successful completion of this section will pave the way for further developmental projects in the region.
