Lawra Member of Parliament, Bede A. Ziedeng, has commissioned a new modern kindergarten block in Zukpire. The facility cost GHS 219,885. Funding came from the MP's share of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund). The project aims to provide education for over 100 children.
These pupils were previously unable to attend school. They had to travel long distances to other communities. Studying conditions were also poor. The new block offers a safe and suitable learning space. It directly addresses a significant lack of educational infrastructure in the Zukpire area. This initiative is a key step in reducing educational disparities.
This investment aligns with broader concerns about educational access in rural Ghana. Many remote communities struggle with inadequate facilities. The GETFund is a crucial source for such projects. The MP's commitment highlights the importance of early childhood education. Strong foundations are vital for future development. Previous data shows consistent underfunding in some regions.
Lawyer Bede A. Ziedeng stated his dedication to education. "Education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming societies," he said. He emphasized that every child deserves a good learning environment. The MP also highlighted past support for tertiary students. He has disbursed over GHS 215,000 this term. His total educational spending since 2021 exceeds GHS 600,000.
This new KG block is part of a larger vision. The MP plans more educational infrastructure projects. The next community to benefit will be Tampier. A new KG block will be constructed there soon. The Lawra Municipal Chief Executive, Cecilia Soyele Nuratu, praised the collaboration. She noted the facility is a "symbol of hope, progress." The Chief of Zukpire, Naa Baabornubor Tang Zaataanomor III, urged community ownership. He stressed the importance of parents sending children to school.
The Director of Education for Lawra, Francis Cudjoe, called the facility a "symbol of hope and progress." He confirmed qualified teachers are ready. A facility management plan will ensure maintenance. The Assembly Member for Zukpire also appealed for health sector support. He requested weighing centres and emergency transport for pregnant women.
