Parents at Osei Tutu Senior High School are appealing for financial and material assistance. They need to complete a vital classroom block. The project aims to reduce overcrowding in the school.

The ongoing construction is for a 12-unit, two-storey building. Work began 15 years ago. It was intended to be finished in two years. However, financial problems have stopped construction. The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) now wants to finish only the ground floor by July this year. This plan aims to provide some immediate relief.

This situation highlights the challenges faced by many Ghanaian educational institutions. Schools often rely on community contributions to fund infrastructure. The school faces increasing student numbers, making additional classrooms essential. Similar projects across Ghana often struggle with delayed completion dates due to budget constraints. This impacts the quality of education and learning environments.

Mr. Augustine Abagali Bentil, PTA Secretary, stated the project's initial cost was estimated at GHS 2 million. He explained that funding comes only from parents' personal contributions and dues. These contributions also support other school activities. Therefore, the PTA believes external help is necessary. Mr. Bentil urged Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), philanthropists, foreign donors, and companies to support the initiative.

The completion of this classroom block is crucial. It will help decongest existing classrooms. This will improve teaching and learning conditions. The facility will have the capacity to house many more students. The PTA is also working on three additional classroom blocks and two teachers' bungalows. However, the 12-unit block is the most advanced. They aim to finish it before the 2026/2027 academic year. This will accommodate the growing student population. Improved infrastructure is key to academic success. The PTA has already supported the school with ten other facilities. Security upgrades have also been implemented.

The PTA needs approximately 2,000 bags of cement urgently. This is the most critical material needed now. It will help advance the construction significantly. Mr. Bentil thanked parents and old students for their ongoing support. He encouraged them to continue their commitment to the school's development.
