The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has rejected claims of fraud concerning the Ministry of Health's recruitment portal. He insists that the system's challenges stem from an extremely high number of applicants trying to use it at once.

Many health workers seeking jobs have reported difficulties accessing the online system. Some have described it as broken. Others have posted on social media alleging the recruitment process is a scam. The Minister made these remarks after opening a new primary healthcare post. He assured applicants that the recruitment drive is genuine.

Mr. Akandoh stated that the portal is the official one announced by the ministry. He explained that many people were successfully accessing the portal every second. The competition is therefore very intense. Success depends on individual internet connectivity and location. This high demand puts significant strain on the digital infrastructure.

The Minister acknowledged public worries. He promised that the ministry is working on improving recruitment further. He also addressed allegations that no recruitment is happening. Mr. Akandoh pledged complete transparency after the process ends. He said everything will be published region by region. This will show where interviews will take place.

The ministry is exploring new ways to increase health sector recruitment. They are also managing health professionals leaving Ghana for jobs abroad. The aim is to absorb some of these professionals locally. This strategy addresses both staffing needs and brain drain.

Mr. Akandoh also cautioned applicants about potential fraudsters. These individuals might exploit desperation to scam job seekers. Some people are using names of politicians to defraud others online. He urged victims to provide any evidence of fraud. The ministry will act swiftly against offenders.

The Minister also discussed the government's Free Primary Healthcare programme. He stated it is funded locally. It does not rely on foreign donations or loans. The programme uses money from taxpayers. He called for responsible use of these resources for sustainability.

The Free Primary Healthcare programme will use the National Health Insurance Fund. No new bureaucratic steps will be created. The Ghana Health Service and private providers will implement it. Mr. Akandoh urged everyone to support the system.
