Bold reforms and disciplined leadership are essential to sustain Ghana’s economic recovery. Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, made this call. He spoke at the 10th Ghana CEO Summit and Expo 2026. His message focused on transforming the economy for the benefit of all citizens.

Togbe Afede highlighted that Ghana's recent economic improvements are encouraging. Inflation in April was 3.4 percent, a slight rise from March’s 3.2 percent. This remains the lowest rate since 2021. The Ghanaian cedi has also strengthened. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth numbers are up. The debt-to-GDP ratio has improved. However, Afede warned that these statistics are not enough on their own. They must lead to better living standards for Ghanaians.

The summit theme was “Accelerating Ghana’s Economic Transformation Through Leadership, Technology, Energyisation and Industrialisation for Sustainable Growth.” Togbe Afede noted that the current global economy is facing significant changes. Technological advances and geopolitical shifts are reshaping the world. Ghana's economic journey is happening within this dynamic global context. The country has faced recent economic challenges. These positive indicators offer a path forward if managed correctly.

Togbe Afede commended Ernest De-Graft Egyir, the founding CEO of the Ghana CEO Summit. He praised his vision in sustaining the platform for a decade. This platform fosters policy dialogue and business growth. Afede stressed that the summit tagline, “From Vision to Action,” is critical. It represents a call to move beyond talk. Ghana needs implementation and hard work for real transformation.

He urged leaders to acknowledge four key realities. These include the inevitability of change. They must identify opportunities in both positive and negative developments. Improving livelihoods must be a core focus. Sustaining economic stability is also a significant challenge. Togbe Afede also stressed the importance of teamwork and corporate governance. He advised CEOs to ensure transparency and informed boards. Strong ethical values like selflessness and honesty are vital for national progress.

The Ghana CEO Summit brought together business executives and policymakers. They discussed strategies for economic growth. Strengthening the private sector was a key aim. The discussions reflected a desire to translate economic progress into tangible benefits for all Ghanaians. The emphasis was on moving from ambition to concrete action.
