A delegation of over 150 football legends, musicians, actors, Members of Parliament (MPs), and business leaders visited Nsawam Medium Security Prison on Thursday. The group offered donations and words of encouragement to inmates. This large-scale outreach was organised by the KN Foundation. It partnered with the Joana Gyan Foundation, the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), and the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The combined effort aimed to provide support and foster a sense of community for the prison population. The delegation assembled in Accra at 8 am before departing for Nsawam. It included numerous former Black Stars players, football administrators, entertainers, politicians, and business executives. This broad representation underscored the widespread interest in the initiative.

Amenfi Central MP Joana Gyan Cudjoe explained the event's purpose. She stated the outreach focused on showing love and humanity to the inmates. "It was about touching lives," she said. "It was about reminding forgotten souls that they are still human beings." She emphasized the importance of reminding them they are loved and that they matter. This effort seeks to connect with those who might feel overlooked by society. Gyan Cudjoe described the experience as emotional. Many inmates are incarcerated due to missed opportunities, poor decisions, or a lack of adequate legal support. She observed pain, regret, and brokenness but also witnessed hope among the inmates. The most impactful moment for her was seeing inmates cry, pray, smile, and express gratitude for the simple act of showing them love and humanity.

The event also facilitated a symbolic moment of unity. It brought together former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi and current GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku. Organisers highlighted their joint appearance as a symbol of unity and national development. Prominent football figures joined the delegation. This included football legends Abedi Ayew and Samuel Osei Kuffour. Kuffour currently serves as the PFAG President. PFAG General Secretary Anthony Baffoe and Treasurer Solomon Torson were also present. The music industry was represented by artists like Dr Cryme and Patapaa. They engaged with inmates and shared messages designed to inspire hope and resilience. This collaborative effort involved significant planning and coordination among the participating organisations and individuals. The joint appearance of former and current GFA leadership is particularly noteworthy in Ghanaian sports administration circles.

The delegation provided practical support through donations. They gifted jerseys, footballs, and tracksuits. Essential food items like rice and fish were also provided. Drinking water was also part of the distribution. The group also donated an undisclosed amount of cash to both inmates and prison officers. Gyan Cudjoe also took the opportunity to commend the prison officers. She recognised their dedication and discipline. She acknowledged their hard work occurs despite challenging working conditions within the facility. The team later paid a courtesy call on traditional leaders at the Nsawam Palace. During this visit, Gyan Cudjoe offered advice to young people. She urged them to avoid violence and crime. "Control your anger. Control your emotions. Control your ego," she advised. She stressed the value of emotional intelligence. She reiterated the importance of avoiding decisions that can harm one's future. "Because prison is not a joke. Freedom is a blessing," she added. Her message draws on biblical principles, quoting Matthew 25:36 to underscore the importance of visiting and supporting those in prison and aiding their rehabilitation.
