The National Cardiothoracic Centre at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital partnered with Quantum LC Limited to offer a free health screening for about 150 people. The event targeted staff of Quantum LC and residents of New Achimota. It aimed to detect non-communicable diseases early. The screening took place last Friday at Quantum LC’s premises.

This health initiative focused on common conditions. These include hypertension, diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol, and prostate cancer. The project aligns with the Centre’s goal to promote preventive healthcare. Dr Innocent Adzamli, a Cardiothoracic Surgeon, led the medical team. Early detection is crucial for better health outcomes. This approach can lead to a brighter future for many Ghanaians.

The partnership between Korle Bu and Quantum LC is noteworthy. It reflects a growing trend of corporate social responsibility in Ghana. Such initiatives contribute to public health infrastructure. Quantum LC provided medical equipment to the Centre. This screening is partly a gesture of gratitude. Kasapreko Company Limited also benefited from similar outreach last year. These events support the Ministry of Health’s broader public health agenda.

Dr Adzamli stated that the exercise offers a way to give back. He expressed appreciation for Quantum LC's significant support. He mentioned their donation of medical equipment. This partnership demonstrates mutual benefit. Quantum LC’s Human Resource and Administration Manager, Sylvia Kisiedu, also thanked the Centre. She called the initiative generous and impactful.

Participants underwent vital checks. These included blood pressure and blood sugar tests. Cholesterol levels were also monitored. For men, prostate cancer screenings were available. Some individuals with existing or suspected conditions received referrals. These referrals are for specialist assessment. The screening aims to improve community well-being. Healthier lifestyles are encouraged for everyone.

Ms Kisiedu highlighted Quantum LC's decision to extend the benefits beyond their staff. This inclusion of the New Achimota community underscores their commitment. Many residents attended the exercise. They benefited from these important medical checks. The outcome is a stronger, healthier population.
