Akofena Reveals Failed Reconciliation Attempts with Adwoa Safo

Head of Safo Family sought help from prominent figures to resolve family dispute.

Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I, the Head of the Safo Family and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana, has revealed his unsuccessful attempts to reconcile with his sister, Sarah Adwoa Safo. The ongoing dispute stems from issues that arose following the death of their father, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka. Akofena stated he has exhausted all options in seeking a resolution. Akofena confirmed he enlisted the help of several prominent individuals, including chiefs and former presidents, to mediate the family disagreement. He also personally visited Adwoa Safo's residence in an effort to discuss and resolve the issues. These efforts, however, did not yield the desired outcome, leading him to make his struggles public. This family conflict has broader implications for the Kristo Asafo Mission, a significant religious and industrial entity in Ghana. The public disagreement between key family members could affect the mission's leadership and public perception. Such internal disputes within prominent Ghanaian families often draw considerable public attention and can influence various community and business interests linked to the family's enterprises. Speaking to Adom News on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Akofena emphasized that going public was a last resort. He stated, "I didn’t even want to speak to the media about this. You know me; I don’t put my issues in public unless it has to do with work." This statement underscores the depth of the unresolved issues and his frustration. The public revelation comes amid an escalating standoff regarding their late father's burial arrangements. Akofena recently declared the proposed July 30 burial date for Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka as null and void. Adwoa Safo has publicly rejected this declaration, insisting that the funeral will proceed as originally scheduled. This direct contradiction highlights the deep rift within the family. Moving forward, observers will be watching closely to see how this public disagreement impacts the family's standing and the Kristo Asafo Mission. The continued public exchange over the funeral arrangements could further entrench the division. Decision-makers within the family and the mission will need to address these issues to prevent further disruption. The situation also raises questions about the future leadership and direction of the Kristo Asafo Mission, a key institution in Ghana.
