A doctor named A.K.A.N Asiedu spoke to students. He said drug abuse is a growing problem. It threatens the health of Ghana’s youth. He warned that drugs can hurt dreams and health. They can ruin future chances. Young people must refuse drugs. They should build good lives instead. Dr. Asiedu asked the government and others to help. This would allow the campaign to reach more schools. It could also go to more communities.
Many students felt the message was important. Some said peer pressure is a big issue. Social media also has a strong influence. They also see harmful lifestyles around them. This puts many young people at risk. They think these talks are needed now. Yvonne Telfer works for the Juaben Municipal Education Directorate. She helps girls. She told students to speak up. They should report abuse. They should tell someone if they are led into bad things. She said to talk to parents or trusted adults. Do not be scared if someone touches you wrongly. Do not let anyone involve you in dangerous acts. Teaching children about abuse prevention is key. It helps raise confident and responsible leaders.
Charles Kanneo from the Narcotics Control Commission was there. He is the Deputy Ashanti Regional Head. He talked to students about drugs. He shared stories from his work. He showed how drug abuse destroys lives. It leads young people to break the law. He said they arrest many young people. Their lives could be much better without drugs. He told them to focus on education. They should think about their future goals.
Angela Yaa Asantewaa started the Asantewaa Empowerment Initiative. She said the campaign is part of a bigger plan. They want to protect the next generation. They want to stop harmful activities. These activities hurt youth development. She asked for more teamwork. Government groups, charities, and partners need to work together. This will keep youth programs strong.
