Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, has officially launched the construction of a modern 24-Hour Economy Market. The sod-cutting ceremony took place at Fumbisi in the Upper East Region. This significant development aims to overcome persistent challenges faced by the district.

Dr. Apaak, who also serves as Deputy Minister for Education, described the market as a vital intervention. It is expected to drive economic transformation within the Builsa South district. The project will focus on creating new job opportunities. It also aims to directly improve the living standards of residents. Dr. Apaak emphasized the people's determination to improve their conditions regardless of disadvantages.

This initiative aligns with national efforts to boost economic activity and create continuous opportunities. Builsa South is recognized as one of Ghana's most deprived districts. Prior to this, government policies have targeted regional disparities. The 24-hour economy policy, introduced by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is a key strategy. It aims to stimulate economic growth and employment across various regions.

Dr. Apaak expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the constituents. He highlighted the district's youthfulness and ongoing developmental hurdles. However, he praised the residents for their consistent determination and unity in pursuing development. He also credited former President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC for the 24-hour economy policy. This policy is seen as a bold strategy to reshape the nation's economy and create opportunities.

The District Chief Executive for Builsa South, Anne Musah, pledged the Assembly's support. This ensures the smooth execution of the market project. Thomas Akanko, representing the Builsa Traditional Area, committed the support of local chiefs and elders. Project consultant Sampson Awuah revealed the market's expected completion timeline. The construction is slated to finish within 36 months. Local labour will be prioritised during the building phase. This directly aims to generate employment for residents within the district.
