The Diaspora African Forum (DAF) has pledged to support Ghana's diplomatic efforts. It will also work to strengthen connections with the global African Diaspora. The group reaffirmed this commitment during a recent briefing. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with members of the Diplomatic Corps in Accra. He shared his vision for inclusive diplomacy.

Erieka Bennett, Ambassador of the DAF Embassy, praised Ghana’s stance. She specifically mentioned Ghana’s leadership at the United Nations General Assembly. Ghana led a resolution acknowledging the transatlantic trafficking of enslaved Africans. This resolution called it the gravest crime against humanity. It was supported by 123 countries worldwide. The resolution also demanded reparatory justice for past wrongs.

This engagement fits into Ghana’s broader foreign policy. The country actively seeks to deepen its ties with people of African descent worldwide. The DAF positions Ghana as a key gateway. It aims to reconnect people of African heritage with the continent. This approach aligns with President John Dramani Mahama's promotion of Diaspora diplomacy. Pan-Africanism is a central theme in these efforts.

Ambassador Bennett stated that the DAF Embassy represents the "Sixth Region of Africa." This signifies a symbolic geographical area. It comprises people of African descent living outside the continent. The DAF remains committed to working with the Ghanaian government. Their goal is to advance shared interests and deepen engagement. This collaboration aims to solidify Ghana's role on the global stage.

The DAF has long advocated for closer collaboration. It promotes stronger links between the African continent and its Diaspora. This engagement is crucial for Ghana's international standing. It also offers economic and cultural opportunities. The Forum's work supports Ghana's ambition to be a hub for the African Diaspora.

The meeting also addressed key foreign policy matters. These discussions were held with accredited representatives of foreign governments in Ghana. The Forum’s commitment highlights the increasing importance of Diaspora engagement. It is a strategic element for Ghana’s foreign relations. This reinforces Ghana's role as a leader in African affairs.
