Awutu Senya East Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Madam Mary Nyamekye Ankrah, has donated relief items worth GHS 5,000 to the Royal Seed Orphanage. This contribution was made to celebrate her 52nd birthday. The orphanage is located in Awutu Okromansa Krom, near Kasoa.
The donation included a variety of essential goods. These items comprised bags of rice, sugar, toilet rolls, boxes of biscuits, tissues, and diapers. Gallons of cooking oil, liquid soap, and sachet water were also provided. Additionally, the orphanage received second-hand clothing, soaps, boxes of tomato paste, washing powder, bed sheets, and carbonated drinks. These supplies are intended to assist the orphanage in caring for the children.
This act of generosity occurs against a backdrop where many Ghanaian orphanages face funding challenges. The NCCE, as a government agency, typically focuses on civic education. However, individual staff members often engage in community support. The Royal Seed Orphanage expressed its gratitude, noting that such contributions help them meet daily operational needs. The founder highlighted that the orphanage provides parental care and training for needy children. They also appealed for support to cover electricity bills, which are impacting their operations.
Madam Ankrah was joined by Reverend Father Emmanuel Ofori Inkoom, Parish Priest of Saint Gregory Catholic Church at Gomoa Buduburam. Reverend Father Inkoom stated that supporting orphans is a duty of the Church. Madam Ankrah stated that she was inspired by a spiritual calling to make the donation. She also reached out to her church, Brand High Senior High School, her family, friends, and the NCCE for further assistance to the orphanage.
The donation highlights the ongoing need for support for vulnerable children in Ghana. Orphanages like Royal Seed Orphanage rely on both individual and institutional goodwill to maintain their services. The financial strain on such homes can impact the quality of care provided. Future donations will be crucial for the sustained welfare of the children.
The founder of Royal Seed Orphanage, Nana Naomi Esi Amoah, confirmed that the donated items would be used prudently. She assured that the welfare of the children remains the top priority. The orphanage prepares children to face life's challenges with confidence. The ongoing needs of the orphanage, particularly for electricity bills, underscore the continuous requirement for community and organizational support to ensure their continued operation and the well-being of the children under their care.
