A new poll by GlobalInfo Analytics reveals that 63 percent of Ghanaian voters support establishing regional tribunals. This significant majority indicates broad public approval for the new judicial system. Only 19 percent of respondents opposed the measure, with 17 percent expressing no opinion. This strong public backing comes as Parliament has already passed the legislation to create these tribunal courts. The Tribunals Bill, 2026, now awaits presidential assent to become law. The establishment of these tribunals aims to decentralize the judicial process and improve access to justice across Ghana's 16 regions. GlobalInfo Analytics conducted the survey through longitudinal telephone interviews between July 15 and July 24, 2026. The poll included 7,761 voters from all 16 regions of Ghana. It boasts a 99 percent confidence level and a margin of error of ±1.5 percent, ensuring high reliability. Support for the tribunals cuts across Ghana's political landscape. Eighty-two percent of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters approved of the initiative. Among floating voters, 55 percent backed the establishment of the tribunals. Sixty percent of supporters from other political parties also expressed approval. Even within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), 45 percent of voters approved of the regional tribunals. This represents a plurality among NPP respondents, demonstrating that the support is not confined to one political bloc. Forty-eight percent of voters who did not disclose their political affiliation also supported the tribunal system. The broad public endorsement suggests that Ghanaians perceive a need for these specialized courts. The decentralization of judicial power could lead to more efficient case resolution and greater accountability. This development is a key step in Ghana's ongoing legal and institutional reforms.
