Mohammed Baantima Samba has retained his position as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Northern Regional Chairman. He secured a decisive victory in the party’s recent regional executive elections.
Mr. Samba garnered 215 votes, significantly outpolling his closest rival, Amadu Inusah, who received 122 votes. This outcome came from a total of 387 valid votes cast in the chairmanship contest. Other candidates, Musah Fuseini and Salifu Abdul Mumin, obtained 44 and five votes respectively.
This re-election places Mr. Samba at the helm of the NPP’s regional structure as the party strategizes for the 2028 general election. The NPP aims to consolidate its base and expand its influence in the Northern Region. The region is crucial for national electoral success, often serving as a bellwether for broader political trends. Other key positions filled include Hajia Suraiya Manan as Women’s Organiser, Mohammed Ibrahim as Nasara Organiser, Salifu Abdul Rashid as Organiser, Yussif Danjuma as Communication Officer, and Abdul Rahman Mahama as Second Vice Chairman. These individuals form the core team responsible for the NPP's operations in the Northern Region.
