Ghana has secured the 17th position globally out of 193 nations in a new assessment of outsourcing competitiveness. This ranking places the country among the elite for attracting international business operations. The 2026 Global Outsourcing Talent Index highlights Ghana's strengths.

The report, compiled by outsourcing firm Ataraxis Management, found Ghana among the top 9% of evaluated countries for remote talent and operational delivery. Commonly outsourced roles include virtual assistants, data entry specialists, and financial analysts. The index measures countries on labour cost, English proficiency, talent availability, digital infrastructure, and political stability. Ghana's placement signifies its growing appeal for global service sector investments.

This achievement aligns with Ghana's broader economic goals. The country aims to expand its service sector and attract foreign direct investment. In the first half of 2025, Ghana saw a significant 382% surge in foreign direct investment, from GHS 179.07 million to GHS 862.96 million. This trend suggests increasing investor confidence in Ghana's economic potential. The report noted that Ghana surpassed countries like the United Kingdom, China, France, and Germany in outsourcing competitiveness.

The study credits Ghana's high English proficiency and lower labour costs as key factors. The report mentions that over 3.3 million professionals are on LinkedIn in Ghana. About 20% of young people in Ghana attend university, providing a growing pool of educated workers. English is the primary language used in schools and workplaces, reducing communication barriers.

Ghana's strong ranking is expected to further boost foreign investment and job creation. However, the report identified digital infrastructure and political stability as areas needing improvement. Ghana scored 40 out of 100 in these categories. The report recommends focusing on utility distribution and expanding high-speed data access. Sustained growth requires addressing these critical infrastructure needs. Ghana is well-positioned to absorb young graduates into knowledge-based digital jobs.

The African continent is seeing a rise in outsourcing, with seven countries in the top 25. South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya also feature prominently. The index also noted that human talent remains crucial in outsourcing. Artificial intelligence adoption has not yet significantly replaced human roles in productivity gains. This provides a stable window for emerging markets to integrate local talent.
