Three persons face charges for allegedly producing and selling explicit child exploitation material. The Ghana Police Service arrested three individuals in the Ashanti and Bono Regions. Their arrests are linked to a network involved in child sexual exploitation.

The case surfaced after external investigations identified a connection to Ghana. An investigator in Australia apprehended a sex offender. This led to the discovery of exploitative content involving children from Ghana. Authorities found material allegedly purchased from suspects in Ghana. Four children, aged between six and 13 years, were identified as victims.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenge of combating online child sexual exploitation. Ghana has been working to strengthen its digital forensics capabilities. Such cases often involve international cooperation. The Ghana Police Service collaborates with Interpol on these matters. These efforts aim to protect vulnerable children from exploitation.

Interpol Accra received crucial intelligence in January 2026. This information came from Interpol Canberra and its Crimes Against Children Unit. Australian authorities reported that a suspect arrested in 2025 had allegedly received child sexual exploitation materials. These materials were reportedly sent from Ghana. The Australian Federal Police provided this intelligence. This led to a formal request for assistance from Ghana.

Investigators found evidence of financial transactions. Suspects in Ghana reportedly received money for the exploitative content. The Ghana Police, with Interpol Accra, conducted further investigations. The Child Digital Forensics and Cybercrime Units were involved. The Criminal Investigations Department supervised these actions. These efforts led to the successful arrest of the suspects. Two victims in the Ashanti Region were identified as immediate family members of two suspects. Two additional victims, aged six and seven, were rescued in the Bono Region. Police investigations are continuing into the full extent of this network. The rescued children are receiving necessary support.
