Toyota Ghana has launched the new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid in Ghana. This new vehicle promotes fuel efficiency. It also supports environmentally friendly transportation.

The Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing Ghana Company Limited unveiled the SUV. The company wants to increase hybrid car use in Ghana. This comes amid worries about rising fuel costs. Environmental protection is also a growing concern.

The new RAV4 Hybrid offers better fuel economy. It has lower running costs. Enhanced driving systems are included. The vehicle is adapted for Ghanaian roads. Toyota sold 4.4 million hybrid vehicles globally in 2025. This shows a growing trend towards greener cars worldwide.

Takeshi Watanabe, Managing Director of Toyota Ghana, stated the launch shows commitment. It is a commitment to low-emission mobility. "The RAV4 is one of the best-selling and most accepted Toyota models globally," he said. "We have sold more than 15 million units worldwide." He added that buyers trust this vehicle. Ghana is expected to be no different.

Andrew Lamptey, Head of Sales Operations at Toyota Ghana, called the model practical. It suits Ghana's road conditions well. The SUV handles rough terrain. It also performs well in city traffic. The self-charging technology is key. It uses a petrol engine and an electric motor. This optimizes performance. It also boosts energy efficiency.

This hybrid system is different from fully electric cars. It does not need plugging in to charge. Energy is generated automatically. This happens through engine operation and regenerative braking. Regenerative braking captures energy lost during slowing down. "When you are braking or decelerating, the system converts that energy into power stored in the battery," Lamptey explained. "In a normal vehicle, that energy would be wasted."

Toyota Ghana offers extra benefits. These include 20,000-kilometre free servicing. A five-year warranty is also provided. Owners get access to MyToyota Connect. This digital platform helps track vehicles. It also offers diagnostic services.

The company expects this launch to help. It should fortify Toyota's market position in Ghana. It also supports the shift to cleaner transport. Ghana aims to be an ECOWAS automobile production hub. This launch contributes to that goal.
