Fidelity Bank Ghana actively supported leadership growth by sponsoring the 12th District 94 Toastmasters Annual Conference. The event took place at Destiny Arena in Accra.
The bank stated that Africa faces a shortage of platforms and investment to turn abundant talent into strong leaders. This conviction guided their decision to be the title sponsor. Godfred Attafuah, Divisional Director for Retail Banking, delivered a keynote address on behalf of Fidelity Bank's Managing Director. The conference theme was "Speak to Inspire: Transforming Leadership in Africa." Delegates attended from across West Africa.
Ghana's demographic future makes leadership development urgent. By 2050, one in four people globally will be African. The continent will have the largest working-age population. Fidelity Bank's sponsorship addresses this by building essential skills. This aligns with the bank's role as the largest privately-owned Ghanaian bank. Strong leaders within Fidelity Bank extend their capabilities into communities and the wider economy. This shows how Ghana's success is intertwined with the bank's achievements.
Fidelity Bank demonstrated its commitment through its internal Toastmasters clubs. These clubs have achieved notable success. Fidelity Corporate Toastmasters received the Smedley Distinguished Club status. This is a new award from Toastmasters International. It honours the organisation's founder. Fidelity Corporate Toastmasters is one of the first clubs globally to earn this distinction. This reflects consistent member dedication and a culture of excellence.
The bank's investment in leadership development is evident in its people. Kwasi Agyeman Badu, a member of Fidelity Corporate Toastmasters, is now the District Director of District 94. He succeeds another member from the same club. Mr. Badu is a Distinguished Toastmaster. He previously chaired club growth initiatives.
Fidelity Bank's Toastmasters programme has a strong track record. Fidelity Corporate Toastmasters has been a President's Distinguished Club for four straight years. Fidelity Orange Heights Toastmasters, a second club, earned the Distinguished Club Award. Both clubs have won the Highest Membership Growth Award four times consecutively. Their members have competed successfully at regional and international speech contests.
Nana Ama Baffour Tabi and Ewurama Kurankyi represented Ghana at the International Speech Contest and Evaluation Speech Contest. This highlights the calibre of talent developed through the bank's programmes. Fidelity Bank's sustained investment underscores its understanding of its national responsibility. It aims to foster leaders who contribute to Ghana's progress.
