North Legon Little Campus secured the top prize at the Ghana Interschool Festival (GIF) Season 2 U12 Athletics Championship. The competition took place in May 2026 at the Borteyman Sports Stadium in Accra. Young athletes from international schools competed rigorously.

The festival included football, athletics, and basketball for Under-12 students. North Legon Little Campus showed exceptional performance in multiple track and field events. This success highlights the growing talent pool within Ghana's youth sports sector. The event aims to nurture future national athletes.

The GIF is becoming a significant platform for developing young sports stars. Previous editions have seen athletes go on to represent Ghana internationally. For instance, Dawutey Bryan, Dedzo Franciszek, and Lea El Haj competed at the 2026 Africa Aquatics Championships. Athletics was a major focus, with North Legon Little Campus excelling in sprints and relays. The general economic climate is not directly impacted by this event, but it contributes to social capital and future human resource development.

Daniel Benneh, an official for the Ghana Interschool Festival, stated the event's core mission. "Our main focus for this event was on the U12 category," Benneh explained. "We want to create a strong succession system for schools and teams to develop young talents and help them flourish." He compared the festival to a "Junior Olympics." This initiative is crucial for shaping Ghana's sports future.

Several individual athletes shone during the championships. Arianna Awurabena Afrankomah Appiedu of North Legon Little Campus won the Girls 50m final with a time of 9.81 seconds. Papa Kofi Nyameye Sam-Inkoom also from North Legon Little Campus won the Boys 100m final (G4-6) in 14.06 seconds.
