The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has scheduled a major planned maintenance exercise in the Western Region for Monday, April 27. This operation is set to take place between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. The planned work will affect numerous communities across the region, including Bogoso township, Bawdie, and Enchi.
This maintenance follows a fire outbreak at GRIDCo's Akosombo substation on Sunday, April 26. The fire significantly reduced power supply to the Central Region. Multiple network faults also caused power outages in the Tema Region on Sunday. ECG engineers are working to resolve these issues while upgrading infrastructure.
The power sector in Ghana has faced considerable strain recently. The Akosombo substation incident highlights vulnerabilities in the national grid. These disruptions impact businesses and households, affecting productivity and daily life. ECG's efforts to upgrade infrastructure are crucial for stable power supply in the long term.
