Ghana's national electricity supply has been fully restored following a significant system disruption, with all generation units now back in service.

Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor confirmed the resolution of the power crisis, stating the national grid has stabilised. This success is the result of continuous, intensive efforts by engineers and technical teams across the energy sector. The restoration ensures a stable power supply for homes and businesses across the country.

Ghana's energy sector has faced challenges including an accumulating debt burden. These issues have historically impacted the reliability of power generation and distribution. Resolving this crisis is key to maintaining investor confidence and supporting industrial output in Ghana. Stable power also directly affects household welfare and the operational costs of numerous businesses. The government has focused on preventing a return to frequent power outages, commonly known as 'dumsor'.

Minister Jinapor specifically stated, “Mission accomplished. All generation units are now back in service.” He highlighted the challenging conditions under which the restoration occurred. He praised the coordinated emergency response measures that allowed for the successful management of the disruption. The Minister also acknowledged the dedication of staff from GRIDCo, the Volta River Authority (VRA), and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). These agencies’ collective efforts ensured the swift recovery of the system.

The successful resolution of this power disruption will likely stabilise economic activities reliant on consistent electricity. Businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), depend on uninterrupted power to operate efficiently. The Energy Ministry will face continued pressure to implement long-term solutions to prevent future disruptions and improve infrastructure resilience. Stakeholders, including businesses and consumers, will closely monitor the sustained stability of the national power supply. Ghana's economy relies on reliable energy to support its growth targets.
