The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) has graduated 1,097 students. This marks the second session of the university's 10th Congregation ceremony. Graduands received degrees in health and allied sciences from the main campus in Ho.

The graduating class included 967 undergraduates. They were joined by 130 postgraduate students. The theme focused on bridging Africa's reproductive health gap. Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, praised UHAS for its vital role. He noted its contribution to healthcare delivery and national development.

This event underscores Ghana's ongoing need for skilled health workers. UHAS is a key institution supporting President Nana Akufo-Addo's development agenda. The university trains professionals vital for Ghana's public health system. Earlier reports show Ghana faces a deficit in specialized medical personnel. This graduation directly addresses that shortage.

Minister Gunu highlighted UHAS's legacy. He linked it to former President John Evans Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama administrations. The government plans to finish the UHAS Multi-Purpose Laboratory Complex. This facility will be the largest medical lab under construction in West Africa. Discussions are also underway for road improvements around the campus.

Professor Lydia Aziato, UHAS Vice Chancellor, urged graduates to pursue lifelong learning. She emphasized the dynamic nature of health sciences. She encouraged graduates to embody UHAS values: excellence, integrity, innovation, service, and care. Professor Kodzo Gavua, Council Chairman, stated UHAS has trained over 13,000 health professionals since 2016. He appealed for the completion of key infrastructure projects.

Ms Abigail Afrifa, the valedictorian, spoke of resilience. She encouraged graduates to use their skills for societal benefit. The ceremony addressed challenges in the health sector. These include infrastructure gaps and resource limitations. The government's commitment to these issues will impact future healthcare quality. The success of these graduates will be measured by their impact. Their contributions are essential for Ghana's health outcomes.
