The Youth Empowerment Consortium (YEC) is calling for young Ghanaians to become leaders who implement solutions. Ghana’s future development relies on these individuals. They must turn ideas into action, not just point out problems.

This call was made at the induction ceremony for the YEC Governance Programme. The event focused on "Youth Mobilisation for National Development." One hundred sixty-five people joined the programme. These participants represent the Youth Model Parliament. They also include youth ministers from various regions.

Edward Marfo, the YEC Founder and Acting General Secretary, spoke at the event. He stressed the urgency for leaders to act. Mr. Marfo stated the programme simulates Ghana’s governance system. It trains future leaders in practical leadership skills. Participants gain exposure to decision-making and public administration. This training prepares them for national leadership roles.

The YEC’s mission extends beyond basic leadership training. It seeks to develop leaders with integrity and compassion. Mr. Marfo explained that Ghana needs "responsibilities in action." He believes identifying problems is not enough. "We need actors who will implement critical solutions towards our nation's development," he said.

Mr. Marfo highlighted character and moral values. Effective leaders must genuinely want to serve others. They must contribute positively to society. The YEC aims to produce leaders known for their integrity. They should also show compassion and strive for excellence. This focus on ethical leadership is vital for Ghana.

Mr. Marfo expressed confidence in the programme's participants. He believes they have the potential to contribute significantly to Ghana. "Our leaders who are here today and previous ones have what it takes to actually lead," he stated. The YEC is proud of their continuous training efforts.

Many participants are already active in their communities. They lead NGOs and social projects. Mr. Marfo commended their dedication. He encouraged them to stay disciplined and focused. Their work is making Ghana better. Continuous effort is key to achieving their goals.

The Youth Empowerment Consortium has been active for six years. Mr. Marfo described its journey as rewarding. He urged all young people in Ghana to seize opportunities. These chances are for personal growth and community development. He also appealed for support from development partners. Institutions and individuals can collaborate with the YEC.

Mr. Marfo advised aspiring leaders on preparedness. Self-development is crucial. Leaders must prepare themselves effectively. They need a clear direction before managing people and resources. Teamwork and collaboration are also essential skills. Strong systems support collective success.

Effective leadership requires holding oneself accountable. Leaders must manage resources wisely. They must guide organisations to new levels. The programme aims to build a generation ready for these responsibilities.
