The Global Africa Trade Advisory Chamber (GATAC) will officially launch in Abuja, Nigeria, on 25 May 2026. The organization’s main goal is to boost trade and foster stronger economic cooperation across the African continent. It also aims to build connections beyond Africa's borders. The launch event will bring together important figures. These include business leaders, investors, diplomats, and trade experts. They will discuss opportunities for improving trade, forming strategic partnerships, and driving economic development. GATAC currently works in more than 20 countries. It uses a strategy called Public-Private Partnership (PPP). This means it works with both government bodies and private companies. It also involves development partners. This approach helps connect different groups to achieve common goals. GATAC supports efforts to make trade smoother. It also helps attract investment. Furthermore, it assists in financing development projects. These projects span vital sectors. These include agriculture, health, education, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals. The chamber has also created platforms. These platforms help African businesses connect with international markets. GATAC has participated in many global business and investment forums. These events have included meetings in Dubai. Discussions at these events often focused on improving trade relations. They also highlighted opportunities within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The AfCFTA is a major trade agreement designed to create a single market for goods and services across Africa. GATAC has formed partnerships to achieve its goals. One such partnership is with the Dawa Industrial Zone in Ghana. This collaboration aims to encourage industrial growth. It also seeks to increase investment from Africans living abroad, known as the diaspora. This is particularly within free zone structures. Free zones offer special tax and customs benefits. GATAC has also led development initiatives. These include efforts to gather support for medical projects and hospitals. They also work on developing agricultural businesses. Other projects by the organization involve improving maternal healthcare. They also support educational programs. GATAC helps African businesses grow and enter global markets. The organization is led by its President, Dr. Dominic Oduro-Antwi. He has guided GATAC’s expansion and partnership efforts. Dr. Oduro-Antwi has received several international awards. These recognize his work in promoting trade, advocating for health, and leading development projects. He won the Health Advocate of the Year award in the United States in 2019. He also received the Business Leadership and Health Advocacy Award in Dubai in the same year. In 2022, he was named Outstanding Business and Trade Advocate of the Year. Furthermore, he was recognized as one of Africa's 100 Most Notable Peace Icons in 2023. Other honours include being listed in the Book of Titans 3.0, which features world chief information officers. He also received the Wisdom and Wealth Honoree Award in Dubai in 2023. In Ghana, he was recognized at the Ghana Health Awards for his contributions. The Abuja launch is a significant step for GATAC. It is expected to strengthen the chamber's presence worldwide. It will also advance its strategy of using PPPs. This strategy aims to connect African development projects with global investment opportunities. The timing of the launch coincides with increasing interest in African economic development. Many global investors are looking for new markets. AfCFTA provides a framework for this expansion.
