Ecobank Ghana's profit after tax fell 4.3% to GHS 1.35 billion in the first nine months of 2026, from GHS 1.42 billion a year earlier, even as the bank lent much more to customers.
Loans and advances to customers rose 34.7% to GHS 16.32 billion, from GHS 12.12 billion a year earlier, according to the group's unaudited results for the period to 30 September.
But interest revenue fell 9.0% to GHS 3.26 billion. Net interest income, what the bank keeps after paying interest to depositors and lenders, fell 8.5% to GHS 2.34 billion. Earnings per share slipped to GHS 4.20 from GHS 4.39.
Loan quality improved. The share of non-performing loans fell to 14.99% from 20.96%, though that still means about GHS 15 in every GHS 100 of loans is not being repaid as agreed. The capital adequacy ratio, a key measure of a bank's buffer against losses, rose to 18.19% from 15.18%.
